To date over 3,400 American soldiers have been killed
in Iraq. To date the United States has spent over $430. Billion
on the War in Iraq.
A New York Times/CBS Poll found that 63% of the
respondents "think the United States should set a timetable
for the withdraw of U.S. troops from Iraq sometime in 2008"
(May 25, 2007, The New York Times).
It is possible, but unlikely, that Congress will end the
War in Iraq by Election Day 2008. Who the next President
will be and their position on Iraq is unknown at this time.
We therefore are proposing a National Advisory
Referendum on the War in Iraq to be held on Election Day
November 2008.
The National Advisory Referendum Question would
state: "Should the United States withdraw U.S. troops
from Iraq by May 8, 2009 (six months from the date of
this vote)?"
