Reasons for a coalition George Bush Al Gore Government

We will never know for sure who won this Presidential Election. Florida's "sunshine" laws allow for access to all the ballots. This will result in all the votes in Florida being counted and recounted by the media, political parties, academics and others. After each different count there will be an article or book written proclaiming that either George Bush or Al Gore won Florida and therefore the Presidential Election.

We will not have a legitimate president no matter who holds the office. At the same time the House of Representatives is almost equally divided between Democrats and Republicans, while the U.S. Senate is exactly equally divided.

We are faced with a Government of inertia headed by a illegitimate President. Never in American history has this Country faced such a crisis. This crisis can only be resolved by a solution that has never been used before. That solution is a Coalition Government to unite the Country and work for the people.

A Coalition Government would be George Bush and Al Gore, one holding the office of President and the other as Vice-President. Further they should agree, in writing, that in 2004 both would run on the same ticket. That ticket would be composed of whoever is President now would run for Vice--president in 2004, and whoever is Vice-President now will run for president in 2004. At the same time Dick Cheney would be appointed as Secretary of Defense and Joseph Lieberman would be appointed as Secretary of State.

Why would Geqrge Bush and Al Gore accept this arrangement? At present whoever becomes President will be viewed by many as an illegitimate President, At best their Administration will lack the authority to act decisively even in a crisis situation. At worst whoever becomes President will not be re-elected and will go down in history as the President who stole an election.

Both Al Gore and George Bush want to be President BUT they also want to be remembered positively by history. This is there opportunity to make history and be remembered as one of the great Administrations. If they agree to one term as President and one term as Vice president they will not only make history but will also unite the country. They will also be forced to work together because there political and historical lives will be interwoven so that one CANNOT succeed without the other.

Out of this crisis can come an historical opportunity. Out of this crisis can come a united Country or a divided Nation. The proposed solution may seem radical BUT carefully think of the alternative.
