Where will the money come from to do these things?
The people of New Hampshire send over $2.1 Billion MORE in Federal Tax Dollars to Washington than we receive back from Washington.
The Kennedy School of Government, in a report The Federal
Budget and the States (December 2000) states that New Hampshire
has "Federal spending significantly below the average of other
states in every spending area, leading to overall Federal
spending more than one-quarter below the average of other
states". This report also states that every person in New
Hampshire sends $1,787.00 MORE in Federal Taxes to Washington
than we receive back from Washington. This means that
collectively the people of New Hampshire send over $2.1 Billion
more to Washington in Federal Tax Dollars than we receive back
from Washington. This means that the people of New Hampshire
are subsidizing the people in 47 States and that New Hampshire
is the 3rd LOWEST State in the Nation in return of Federal Tax
Dollars.
This year the New Hampshire Statewide Property Tax will be $483 Million. The Statewide Property Tax would END, AND there will be a reduction on Taxes on businesses AND special economic incentives for companies to locate in Northern New Hampshire (including an economic stimulus package for existing businesses) if the citizens of New Hampshire received $1 Billion more, of our Federal Tax Dollars, back from Washington than we do now.
Would this make the people of New Hampshire greedy? NO! NO! New Hampshire would still be the 42nd LOWEST STATE in Federal Spending. Forty-one States would still receive more from Washington in Federal Tax Dollars per person than New Hampshire. New Hampshire would still be subsidizing the people in 41 States. The people of New Hampshire would STILL send $1.1 Billion MORE to Washington in Federal Taxes than New Hampshire would get back from Washington. EVERY man, woman and child in New Hampshire would STILL send $955.00 MORE to Washington in Federal Taxes then they would get back from Washington.
How can the people of New Hampshire receive their Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars from Washington?
Acting together the people of New Hampshire will have their voice heard in Washington. Acting together the people of New Hampshire will receive their Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars. Acting together New Hampshire's Statewide Property Tax will END, AND there will be a reduction on Taxes on businesses AND special economic incentives for companies to locate in Northern New Hampshire (including an economic stimulus package for existing businesses).
Therefore, the Coalition for National Referendum has begun a Statewide Petition drive to request that the New Hampshire Legislature pass Legislation to place on the Ballot a Referendum Question. The Referendum Question will call for Washington to return to the people of New Hampshire our Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars.
The Referendum Question will also state that New Hampshire's Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars will be spent to END the Statewide Property Tax AND reduce Taxes on businesses AND special economic incentives for companies to locate in Northern New Hampshire (including an economic stimulus package for existing businesses).
Why would a Statewide Referendum be effective?
A Statewide Referendum to request that Washington return to the citizens of New Hampshire our Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars will be historic. When the population of an entire State asks in a direct vote for their Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars Washington will be compelled to listen and respond.
New Hampshire is also the First Primary State. There are a multitude of Presidential Candidates who are, and will be, coming to New Hampshire to ask for our votes. When the people of New Hampshire ask in a direct vote for their Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars these Presidential Candidates will have to respond.
The Question is even with a Federal Budget of $1.95 Trillion, and even with a Tax Cut of $1.35 Trillion (over ten years), if the citizens of Now Hampshire receive $1 Billion more of our Federal Tax Dollars every year from Washington from where will this money come?
The answer is the money will come from the WASTE in the Federal Government.
Citizens Against Waste in Government, a Washington based Organization, states that the Federal Government WASTES $18.5 Billion a year. Examples of the waste range from spending your Federal Tax Dollars on "shrimp aquaculture research" in Arizona (a landlocked state), to the fact that the Federal Government owns and operates hundreds of civilian aircraft used to fly government agency executives, spouses and guests all over the country.
We are proposing that an Independent Commission be set up with active citizens to identify the WASTE in the Federal Government so that $1 Billion of that WASTED money can be returned to the citizens of New Hampshire to END the Statewide Property Tax AND reduce Taxes on businesses AND special economic incentives for companies to locate in Northern New Hampshire (including an economic stimulus package for existing businesses).
When we, the citizens of New Hampshire, receive our Fair Share of Federal Tax Dollars the Statewide Property Tax will END, AND there will be a reduction in Taxes on businesses AND special economic incentives for companies to locate in Northern New Hampshire (including an economic stimulus package for existing businesses).
